I'm a huge fan of aerosol art and a passionate hater of graffiti. As a youth worker in the Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingacarribe areas i see everyday the eyesore that graffiti is becoming.
I'm currently trying to put together a monthly()hopefully more regular if successful) workshop to try and show the young people of these communities that there is a legal and legitimate side to this art form...and if your any good at it, quite a lucrative side as well. I'll be aiming at local services and businesses to commision the work done to display in their entries/offices...eg...do a few car bonnets for a spray painting business, a canvas mural for a job network member etc. Their cost would be materials only.
To do this i am seeking a semi-professional artist who has extensive knowledge of graffiti and hopefully other forms of art. Can anyone out there lead me in the right direction? Let's get behind this and try and change the communities outlook on graffiti, show the council's that there is a workable approach to this. Imagine, everyon'e Otto bins painted up to the householders wants with the artists impression of that? Bin day is a true eyesore...wouldn't the bins look better????? There is an alternative people....help me get one in place.

Well said, Phil, I agree....sort of.
I admire your passion for our part of Sydney and share your frustration at the big blind spot the city media suffers re any positive story about the western suburbs.
I can remember a certain western suburbs high school that won a special NSW internet design award THREE YEARS IN A ROW. Not one word appeared in the Sydney papers, even after I personally lobbied them, and the principal was left scratching his head.
However, when a caller to a talkback radio station claimed some idiot was selling drugs outside this same school, suddenly every journo and photographer in Sydney was there and it was making front page news.
Etc Etc Etc....
I could tell you hundreds of similar examples.
However....
This state government has become so phoney and obssesed by spin that quite frankly it is hard to tell the forest from the trees anymore.
As an editor I've been called to many major press events with various recent Premiers or Ministers only to discover that it was a re-announcement, of a reannouncement, of an earlier re-announcement.
The spin we get fed is only punctuated by the five-second photo ops of dopey ministers wearing hardhats at worksites.
You tend to turn off after a while.
And given the huge number of broken promises and rorts we see in this part of the world, often involving developer mates, any actual productive news might tend to get hidden - or simply disbelieved.
The boy has cried wolf too many times.

Updated iTunes with 9.1.0.79. All ok. However, syncing of calendars from my Outlook with the iPhone has gone wrong. Any 'All-Day' appointments have created additional days and changed the time from midnight to midnight. within Outlook. On the iPhone these 'All-Day' appointments have moved to the previous day! Time specific appointments seem fine. It is a mess. I'm not making manuall corrections as I hope there will be a bug-fix release very soon.

Kerbside systems are often judged on the number of different types of commodities collected and a "better" collection service is one that collects a greater variety, more frequently.

The document therefore provides advice about consulting with and communicating decisions to the community, to avoid any misconceptions or backlash

Bernard , you are wright but I fear that the council may try to cover up to save face rather than facing the facts and fix the problem and the people will forgive them and move on .
I would like to ask the Mayor a few simple questions , comparing Penrith to Camden which is a neighbour and of similar demographic .
1- Why Penrith council did not consult the people and/or conducted a trial run to find out how people felt about the horrible service ?
2- Why council rejected the clean new Arrow bio technology that Camden uses so that their residents do not suffer from bad smell , flies infestation , and maggots ?
3-Why we pay more for horrible 2 bin weekly service than they pay for 3 bin weekly clean service ?
4- Who is responsible for this gross mismanagement and the mess created ?
5- When the council is going to fix their error and how ?

No wonder you're not on the front page of the Herald-graph Mr O'Neill. You'll have to work on your meaningless blather if you seek fame and fortune...
