Options for Hurlstone Agricultural High School

July 28, 2009 by The Saucier

Sequence 1Four NSW state Labor MPs: Andrew McDonald (Macquarie Fields), Graham West (Campbelltown), Geoff Corrigan (Camden) and Phil Costa (Wollondilly) are known as “Team Macarthur” and represent around 275,000 constituents in Sydney’s south-west.

They also belong to another team; the NSW Labor Party.

Unfortunately, for Team Macarthur, team Labor seems keen to sell off farm land which is currently part of Hurlstone Agricultural High School for housing development. The proposed sale has been the subject of community protests in and around the school as well as calls for the four Labor MPs to stand up to their party leader and State Premier, Nathan Rees.

Team Macarthur has agreed to put the case against the sale to their leader some time in the coming weeks, but while we wait for an outcome that may in fact be months away there’s no reason we can’t have a little fun with the situation.

The Labor party is keen to do what is best for western Sydney. Not a small group of Nimby’s. Get your facts right.

Sorry you didn’t find it amusing Paul.

Excellent! Amusing and needs to be stopped cause the school needs the land!

Droll. One imagines the Coalition will feel a similar sting at some time in the future?

Very funny it is nice to be able to have laugh in the middle of such a serious fight.

Very funny – with a poignant message at the end.

Are the Macarthur four really standing up or simply being shepherded by Rees? They need to represent their community.

Are you Rams or wethers boys? Only time will tell.

That was hilarious! As current student I hate the NSW government’s descion but I can see the funny side of things. And by the way the government is up the creek now since the National Trust might be putting Hurlstone on it’s heritage list.

Hilarious if it wasn’t so serious. I think Paul misses the point in that there’s an argument going on about what is best for western Sydney. I always find it amusing when the ‘nimby’ tag is used instead of expressing valid points to substantiate your side of the argument.

It must be wonderful to have such blind faith in the Labor spin doctors.
